Information

Botanica, an annual exhibition showcasing the work of some of Australia’s foremost botanical artists, will be held from 16 – 25 April 2010 in the superb surrounds of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney.

Presented by Friends of The Gardens, Botanica 2010: Treasuring plants: treasuring our planet has, as its theme, the need to preserve our heritage. Botanical art is one significant way of doing this. Many rare and endangered species would not be generally known if they had not been recorded in botanical paintings over the years. In 2016 our beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens at Farm Cove will be 200 years old and, as one walks through the grounds, one sees many wonderful old specimens that lend themselves to be the subject of strong, dramatic botanical art.

Botanica 2010: Treasuring plants: treasuring our planet will showcase a spectacular collection of the best and latest works by leading Australian botanical artists. All are highly successful locally, and many have very significant international reputations.

Botanica 2010: Treasuring plants: treasuring our planet will be held from 16-25 April 2010 at Lion Gate Lodge, Mrs Macquaries Road, within the Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney. The exhibition is open from 10am - 4pm daily. Entry is free. All works are for sale with proceeds supporting the work of Friends of The Gardens and the Botanic Gardens Trust.
