About Us
Philippa Bird started the "What's on Sydney" website in January 2003. It was one
of those Sunday morning thoughts as she was searching the net for "what's on". The
site has been growing year on year ever since. In 2007 a decision
was made to re-develop the website, build a membership base for the organisations
that use the website to promote their events and re-establish the business under
a new business name "What's on Downunder".
Our mission is:
To provide the most comprehensive personalised guide of leisure activities throughout
Sydney, for Australians and tourists and to support the organisations who manage
these activities.
Philippa recognised that many events that take place in Sydney have little or no advertising
budget and therefore find promotion and advertising almost impossible. This website has
been built to provide promotion to all whatever the size of the budget.
Philippa also recognised that Sydneysiders and tourists were missing out on many events
simply because they did not have one comprehensive place to go. Many Sydneysiders do not find
out about events until they are over.
